It's Friday...time to ramble on

First of all

Michael Johns? Say it isn't so? I mean he wasn't very good this week....but look at him just look at him.....

I think its the curse of the bad outfit. Are ascots the new rage? Or was that a scarf on his neck?....What gives? I am convinced Ramiele performances went down hill once they started putting her in high wasted baby clothes. Put a pair of mommy jeans or stirrup pants on David Achuletta and I guarantee he will be gone next.

Kudos to my daughter, Cat on her magic sand science project which she presented with one of her peeps at the science fair last night. It was a hit. Now after trying to make our own magic sand like real scientists (baking 5 lbs of sand in my oven and spending a week and about $20 on scotch guard), we decided to order some backup magic sand. Turned out this was a cheaper alternative and so I highly recommend the following website.

Very cool stuff. Fun for gifts as well if you are sick of giving webkinz and Hannah Montana paraphernalia at birthday parties.

On a more disturbing note, how horrific was the "beating" video with the Florida teenagers. Having a preteen daughter, it just gives me chills to think of what kids are capable of. You Tube and My Space aside, what bothers me is the "ganging up" idea. This is not new. I thought back to my junior HS days and although I was a relatively "mild" kid, I clearly remember helping write and send a note to a "friend" who was on the "outs" with us. It was absolutely vicious. At least 5 of my friends signed it. Not to compare a dangerous case of battery to what we did, but it is frightening what a bunch of kids (in this and in my case girls) can do when the "bravery in numbers" mentality is at work. Did the 8th grade girl that we turned on get beaten... no. Did we send her into a crying frenzy and mental anguish...yes. I still feel badly about it to this day. Luckily in the jr high school playground justice system, the tables were turned on us pretty quickly. The victim in our case was taken in by a group of girls in a much more popular clique than ours and we were ostracized for the remainder of the year....

Lastly

There is a new movie with Patrick Dempsey as the Maid of Honor, called my "Best Friend's Wedding" oops I mean"Made of Honor". Ok... as many of my readers know I personally think Julia Roberts and I were separated at birth so take this with a HUGE grain of salt.....

Huh? What?...you say?

Patrick Dempsey's best friend who happens to be a hot chick announces she is getting married and Patrick decides "she's the one for me" and is going to break up the wedding. GENIUS... I tell you GENIUS. Are they going to sing karaoke? Will he devise some wacky way to break up the wedding? Will there be a touching scene between the two of them where they almost cross the line between friends and lovers...

Will I see the move? But of course......

not digging the side part on Patrick on the Made of Honor website

Have a great weekend

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Hell don't read the paper...I am ready to ramble.

Thought 1 of the day: How about those Celtics? 5 and 0. I haven't been this excited about a Celtics team since the ML Carr and Larry Bird days. I feel truly lucky that all of the New England sports teams are doing so well. The hard thing is the fact the Patriots are so disliked and there is a growing dislike for the Red Sox as well.

Thought 2 of the day (as I skip church today) I am an Episcopal. My family and I joined the Episcopal Church 2 years ago after a not so nice experience with the local Catholic church in my town (ccd, working mom...just not good). No judgement, just switched churches and we couldn't be happier with the transition. HOWEVER, my church is now splitting in half. To put it in very basic terms, over homosexuality. Half the parishoners are leaving to form a new church which will have more conservative values. I am staying with the current church as I have always had a more liberal point of view. The whole situation is very sad to see this church break up in such an ugly way.

Thought 3 of the day: Speaking of homosexual. The girls and I were playing Sorry on a lazy Saturday afternoon and I put on the TV, and the movie Pillow Talk was on with Rock Hudson and Doris Day. I used to watch old movies with my mom and she was a huge fan of Doris Day and Rock Hudson. We would make popcorn and grab blankets and watch these bubbly, harmless movies and it was so fun. My dad, unfortunately, would walk by and make some negative comment about Rock Hudson to get under mom's skin. But after watching him yesterday and googling him, it must have been a bit depressing...gay?....HE WAS GORGEOUS!!!! Check out this You Tube Video I found. HYSTERICAL, cute wasn't he? But not much of a dancer.

Thought 4 of the day: Thanksgiving. I host every year. We are going to have a smallish group this year 8-10 people at the most. I was thinking about doing something different. I will do the basics, turkey, stuffing, potatoes. But since it is a smaller crowd, I was thinking about squash soup or some other funky stuff. Thoughts? Ideas?
Thought 5 of the day: Mr Krabs from Spongebob. I never realized that Mr Krabs is a single father of a teenage daughter (Pearl). Must be challenging. Pearl is a betch. No wonder he is so frugal.

Photo Friday with the CHBM-Storms

This was a storm that was circling Cape Cod Bay in Eastham this summer which created the most incredible reddish sky.

Photo Friday with the CHBM

My friends at the Crazy Hip Blog Mama's are interested in photos, writings or poems about land. Visit their site, they have some great mom writings....

This is a picture of my girls on a tour Franconia State Park, heading to the Flume Gorge

We went late spring and what was most amazing was parts of the gorge still had ice formations even though it was 85 degrees out.

It is a spectacular example of the interest geographic mix you can find in New England. Of course I am biased.

The Flume is a natural granite gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty. Towering granite walls rise to a spectacular height of 90 feet .

To the crazy hip blog mamas- childhood dreams

The girls at Patriots training camp + our favorite-Tom Brady
I wanted to be a professional football player...I know, sounds crazy right? I grew up with 2 brothers and barely any girls in the neighborhood. I didn't want to marry Joe Namath, I wanted to be Joe Namath.

I am developing into quite the linebacker these days so I will be spending the next few months trying to get back into running and cutting back on the late night binges....
